A performing arts teacher from Preston has been named teacher of the year at the National BTEC Awards. The ceremony, held in London in July, was organised to recognise and celebrate the work of teachers and students who are teaching and studying BTEC qualifications.
Anne Markland was awarded the prize for Outstanding BTEC Teacher/Tutor of the Year. She was nominated by colleagues at Preston College for her work, which often sees her students exceeding their expected grades. She also offers support and guidance to
students applying to study performing arts at university.
Anne, speaking to TD, said that the news ‘hadn’t sunk in’. She said that winning the award had given her, ‘affirmation for sticking
to my guns.’
