Over 100,000 people have attended live broadcasts from the National Theatre of The Audience – a record number of attendees for the NT Live scheme.

Starring Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II, the Peter Morgan play was seen by over 80,000 by cinema-goers at London’s Gielgud Theatre and 30,000 in the US. The Audience was the first West End production to be broadcast.

Mirren starred in NT Live’s first broadcast of Phedre in 2009. The NT broadcasts have reached over 1.5 million viewers since they began, with shows including Frankenstein, One Man, Two Guvnors‎ and War Horse.
